Hello my darlings,
As you can see from the time stamp above the date is May 1st It's commitment day for those still in high school, and on this day one year ago I proudly wore my University of Illinois T-shirt to high school, eyes bright with all the adventures that were still to come. Excited for prom and graduation and my last summer with almost no responsibilities. I all the time in the world to plan out my dorm room, stalk the UIUC blogs, watch college advice tutorials and figure out whether or not to loft my bed. Back then I was so nervous about making friends, navigating the social atmosphere, and could not figure out how I was going to fit all my clothing in three square feet of closet. And now here I am. Two weeks away from finishing my first year of college. 32 credits in, and through it all I have already made two best friends and hundreds of casual acquaintances. I have stayed with my boyfriend for over a year (8 moths of long distance). Joined my sorority, found a family within my major and spent months creating a campaign about Mary Kay cosmetics with National Student Advertising Competition, only to loose. Then turning that failure into a drive for us to win next year. In these last two weeks I have to complete two written finals, one take home final, one term project, a final speech, a advertising project (consisting of a strategy, four completed print ads, a viral video, and two promotional outlets, and with this create a presentation and a printed plans book.) And like always, I have my work cut out for me. This blog is a place for reflection and advice for those entering college and leaving high school. Where I will talk about any and everything that I think will be beneficial to you. so leave a comment if you wish, and let me know what you want to see from me. Have a wonderful day! xoxo, Dana
